  Medical Study Tour 15 June-22 June
   


The first IISC study tour for Medical and primary health care professionals departs on 15 June 2008. The programme comprises a week of visits and seminars looking at all aspects of Cuban medical care, including the system, its ethos, treatment regimes, institutions, research and facilities. The tour will be led by IISC Director Professor Patrick Pietroni and is organized in conjunction with the ATOL bonded Old Havana Ltd travel company.

  The Venezuela connection: Public Seminar February 6
   

In the second of our 2008 series of public seminars, on 6th February,
Emily Morris (pictured right) of the Economist Intelligence Unit and Dr Julia Buxton (pictured left)
from the University of Bradford will be examining the growing relationship between Cuba and Venezuela.

Health Care seminar very well received



Last month’s public seminar on the Cuban health system delivered by Professors Patrick Pietroni and Margaret Blunden of the IISC was very well-received with more than 80 people attending. The PowerPoints they used are already posted on the IISC website here and transcripts of their full presentations will be posted there shortly

     

Module for King’s College launched

A special study skills module on the subject of Cuban Health Care is being provided to King’s College London’s medical school by the IISC. The first students came to London Metropolitan for the opening seminar on 17 January. Full details can be found on the website here

  Publishing possibilities
   

The Editorial board of the International Journal of Cuban Studies is now preparing its first edition. Please visit the section on the website here for details of how to send in proposals for articles.

In addition the IISC is negotiating with a renowned publisher to produce a series of books on Cuba starting in 2009. If you have a chapter or book idea that you would like to have considered please watch the website carefully. News of this will be posted as it happens.
