Students thrilled by first London Metropolitan University study tour

The first study tour by students from London Metropolitan University organized by the IISC arrived back elated on December 15th. Four students and a former member of staff spent a week in Havana looking at aspects of Cuban history, society and culture. Education student Lena Tempesta was thrilled by the experience: "I can honestly say that it was the best organised and interesting trip I have ever been on. I have been given lots of ideas for areas that I would like to investigate further regarding the education system and am absolutely amazed at what I saw and heard.”

  Health links established

IISC director, Professor Patrick Pietroni completed a very successful visit to the Cuban Ministry of Health in early December 2007. The way has now been opened for collaboration between the IISC, LondonMet and Cuba in many fields related to health research, training and exchanges. Among the projects planned is an elective option for UK medical students in Cuba, a visit to Cuba for UK health professionals sometime in 2008, and ongoing collaboration in research. We will post developments on our website as they are finalized.
