Cuba's commitment to the environment and sustainability and its record in providing universal education was examined by two experts from the Cuban Minisitry of Education who shared their experiences of teacher training and curriculum development and the theme of environmental awareness.
Dr Orestes Valdés talked on Environmental Education: Programmes, projects and research in Cuban univerisities while Dra. Margarita Quintero's talk was entitled: The Cuban Education System.
Dr Orestes Valdés Valdés is a specialist in environmental education based within the Ministry of Education and works in the preparation and delivery of environmental education workshops in communities that live in areas of biological importance and which might be under threat from natural disasters.
