On 9th January, 2008 the distinguished UK academics Professors Patrick Pietroni and Margaret Blunden spoke at the International Institute for the Study of Cuba on the subject of Cuban medical care.
Professor Pietroni, the Director of the International Insitute for the Study of Cuba and formerly the Dean of General Practice at the University of London, made a comparison between the UK and Cuban health services.
Professor Blunden, Emeritus Professor at the University of Westminster, presented on her research into the Cuban medical outreach programme, particularly focusing on the medical schools in sub-Saharan Africa.
More than 80 people attended the seminar held in the Henry Thomas Room, of the Tower Building in North Campus.
